So day 3 we decided to go to Universal Studios. Again like the day before we had breakfast in the hotel beforehand. From our hotel the Universal Resorts were a little further on than the Disney Resorts but only took around 30 minutes to get there. To park in the Universal Resorts it costs $20 (£14.15). It’s a multi-storey car park and each section has a name of characters etc that are in the parks. So on this day we were parked in ‘Jaws’. I liked how they had some quiet music playing from the Jaws movies.
Once out of the car parks we walked on some walking escalators to the entrance to the Universal Orlando Resort onto City Walk. City Walk contains a number of restaurants, bars, a cinema, shops & more. The moving Universal globe is located here and it rotates. Perfect photo opportunity. We arrived there around 10am.
Once entering the Universal Studios we had to activate our passes which we did purchase from the UK. There was a rather long queue for this but managed to get it done in around 30 minutes. Whilst waiting my Dad was actually allowing the kids to use his very expensive camera, can you imagine if they dropped it? Hehe.
We knew there was a chance of meeting characters so we went & purchased the kids an autograph book & pen each. After this we started walking towards Krusty Land but before getting there out of the corner of my eye I spotted Hello Kitty. There was no wait at all to meet her so the kids met her and got her autograph and had some photos done with her. She was actually the first character whom we met on our holiday/vacation. Only a few steps further & we spotted some of the Scooby Doo characters however there was a little queue but they were going for a break so we didn’t wait. We did see the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine van and some of the kids had their photos done with it. Again literally only a few steps further on we spotted Bart Simpson coming out and the kids ran to him and got his autograph & had photos done with him. Again no wait at all to meet him.
We then arrived at Krusty Land and it’s so colourful like a circus. It actually makes you feel like your in a Simpsons episode yourself. They had Lard Lad Donuts, Krusty Burger, Moe’s Tavern & the Kwik-E-Mart, all being identical to the program. A lot of our party were walking further ahead and we saw Homer, Marge, Bart & Lisa Simpson. My Daughter and 1 of my Nephews got to meet them and get their autographs and photos done with them. We then went on the Simpsons ride which is a simulator ride and it was a brilliant ride. Last time I went it was the Back To The Future ride which I absolutely loved however The Simpsons ride was equally as good.
It was around 3pm and we decided to leave the park and go for a meal. On leaving the park we met Popeye & Marilyn Monroe (again no wait at all) & again the children got their autographs and had photos done with them too. I was seeing which famous names I recognised from the stars on the floors.
Restaurant of choice was Hard Rock Cafe. Food was gorgeous & not badly priced either. We enjoyed looking around the restaurant too at all the memorabilia.
After leaving the Universal complex we headed back to the hotel & went swimming. I had a little dip in the swimming pool however it did exacerbate my chronic pain so went in the hot tub and found it relaxing.
It was a Friday evening & we popped down to Old Town for food & a cheeky bit of shopping.
